Autumn coats to admire

Here in Copenhagen you can sense that autumn is approaching. I’m wondering what kind of autumn we will have- short or long? I love when the leaves change colours on the trees and the different smells that come with autumn. I actually love the four seasons- the variations. Maybe a coat needs to move into my wardrobe. But first I will do another (yes!) challenge next week and seriously go through what I already have. And I will advice you to do the same. It’s so easy for things to end up in drawers and cupboards… for not to be used. I think if you’ve not really used something in the last 12 months, that you can give it away. Unless of course it’s an expensive item or something with a lot of history attached to it. But for now I’m browsing coats. One of my favourite brand is Reiss! Below you’ll see a coat from Burberry, one from Reiss and another one from H&M. I can recommend Reiss- good quality that holds for years. Usually dry clean though- just a tip! But I recommend.

Copenhagen- travel card and getting around

It really is not the easiest to understanding how the travelling works in Copenhagen.

There are various methods to get around:

S-Train

Metro

Buses

Bicycle

Taxi

Car rentals

Note- there is no Uber here. Otherwise a favourite of mine- obviously where the city caters for it.

To get from the airport to the city or elsewhere I would recommend taking the Metro. This is very easy to find and it’ll take you 20 minutes more or less to get into the city: Nørreport or Kongens Nytorv.

I would recommend buying the travel card from the station at the airport. This will cost DKK 80 (at the time of writing this!) You can preload this as well with an amount. Note that it is possible to add passengers to your trip- you just need to find the right check in machine and add number of passengers to this.

Another advice is to check in every time you change mode of transport- for example from the Metro to the S-train- only check out when you’ve completed the journey!

Also if you happen to have a CPR number (danish personal number) I would advice to get a Pendlerkort- you can download this App on your iPhone (I’d imagine an Android too).

This is from my personal experience thus far spending time in Copenhagen. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Or stories you’d like to share on the best way to get around a city? I imagine it depends how long you are staying for and so on. I also know there are other ways to buy mode of transport in Copenhagen in conjunction with attractions- but I need to research that first before I can recommend further. So for now- I would recommend a travel card or to download the App if you can!

Comments and questions are very welcome 🙏🏻

New challenge- read a book!

So the quest continues. Of course it is completely up to you what challenges you decide to join and partake in. My goal is to inspire you! The small things in life really truly make a difference and I want you to feel that. Hence my persistence in these different type of challenges. Maybe it’ll make you think slightly different about something but also realise that it is you- your actions- that make a difference in your life! You are the master here.

This week I challenge you to read a book every day for 30 minutes. I used to read books a lot when I grew up. I have a vivid memory of spending the majority of a summer on our balcony on mattresses, blankets and cushions under a blue sunny sky just devouring one book after the other. I fully realise and acknowledge this was an honour and privilege to be able to do this. Completely!

The world is different today and now we have all these gadgets to read from. Which I also love. I do however think that books is something which will never become out of fashion. There is simply nothing that can replace a book. The smell, the feel or the excitement of actually physically turning to the next page. I recommend you to look in your bookshelves, in the attic, to browse amongst shelves and boxes- wherever you keep your books. Come on and do it- you know it makes perfect sense to delve into the world of adventure, crime, history, magic, reality and self help books! I truly recommend!

Panasonic bread maker SD-ZB2502- yummy banana bread!

Instead of chucking away ripe bananas, use them to make tasty banana bread! Delicious and not too sweet- and so easy if you use a bread maker. One of my challenges is to use what I already have! So instead of hiding constantly in the cupboard, my bread maker is starting to make the occasional appearance in my kitchen! I’m honoured that this shy guest is starting to come out more and more! And the bananas are well used.

How to- if using a bread maker, in this order:

100ml butter/ alternative

2 eggs

2tbs of milk/ alternative

2 ripe mashed up bananas

2tbs of sugar

Hint of vanilla sugar (if you have?!)

3 dl of easy flour/ alternative

3tbs of baking powder

Then select the baking programme (option 2 on my bread maker) then… go and do something else for 2 hours!

Once complete, take out to cool, cut up some slices and enjoy with a nice cup of tea or coffee. Or why not, with an extra cold glass of milk!

This is easy to freeze as well, ideally in individual slices. I also recommend to use a bit of vanilla sugar. I’m not sure this exists outside of the Nordics though? It’s great!

Enjoy! I really recommend.

Tips when travelling- Hammam towels

As mentioned in an earlier post, next time I travel somewhere I will follow a list of what to pack. This will ensure I only pack what I need. We’ve all been there with over full bags only to end up using half of the stuff in the end. One thing I actually discovered this summer and that I will add to my wish list, is Hammam towels. Have you guys tried? They are amazing! Quick to dry bath and beach towels. They are also very compact to pack and carry once folded. The perfect towel to bring on a beach holiday. You can find them where you live by googling and they are also on Amazon. This is something I will definitely get for the next beach trip! I truly recommend.
