Friday inspiration!

I don’t know about you but I have a problem. There… I said it! I’m way too addicted to my iPhone. Ever since I got it back in 2009- it’s something I look at several times a day. Isn’t that strange? Perhaps I’m opening up too much today but… sometimes you just have to take the leap and fix stuff- right?! These last 18 months in my life have been amazing. They’ve also been very, very hard. So much so that I’m at times suffering from insomnia. I wake up anytime from 2am and can’t go back to sleep. Today is for example the third day- or night… in a row with bad sleep. And you know that’s enough. I’ve had enough! You know when you know what you should do, but you don’t do it anyway? Isn’t that odd?

I love pushing myself and setting up goals. Life is amazing and overall I am a very happy, positive can do person. Because I know it all has to do with what you want. The goals you set out and the fact that you decide to achieve them. And you know what… to achieve your goals it doesn’t just happen. You have to work to reach them and to succeed. When you fall, because there will be times when you have bad days, you have to decide to get back on track again! That’s why one of my favourite quotes are “it’s never too late to start again” because it is- never too late. Life is short, life is precious. I will personally stop now and reduce time spent on my iPhone, I will start reading more books again, I will do all these things I know will make my life and my health better. Are you in?!?!?!

This is a book that I will review and read again:

It has some great chapters about “look at what’s working and what isn’t, don’t listen to 2 a.m voices, stop worrying, believe in yourself just a little bit more” and so on. Seems like a great book for me just right now.

More challenges to be seen here! To spur you but also to spur myself. Why not?! Life is amazing and precious… we need to look after ourselves. I so recommend. Thank you for taking the time to read this longer post today! I so appreciate the interaction here. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Œ

Convinced itโ€™s the small things in life that we need to focus on to ensure we live a happy life. Love sharing experiences and recommendations and starting to understand that positivity is very contagious!

  1. Emma, it 3:20 am in NYC, I woke up at 2:26 to go to the bathroom and here I am laying in bed with my phone in my hand unable to sleep. (Sigh)

I will look into getting that book. One of my goals for 2019 was to read more books. At least 1 book per month – well that hasn’t gone well. We are at the end of our 6th month of the year and I’m only on my 2nd book. (Sigh)

Life is indeed precious. I agree with your take on it all – More time reading, less time on the phone (I’m saying this while I have my phone in my hand). ๐Ÿ˜•

    1. Oh no- I so recognise this and itโ€™s a spiral… too much to do and distracted by the iPhone which stops us from sleeping properly then this adds to the day in terms of stress and feeling exhausted. I will get myself an alarm clock and start leaving the iPhone in the kitchen… one way to improve sleep? Me too I have loads of goals for 2019!!! Letโ€™s make them happen! It really is never too late to start over. Itโ€™s more about how to overcome challenges and conquer them. Put the phone aside… decide to have a great sleep now and have an amazing Friday! Then let the weekend begin! Sending you great vibrations and hugs ๐Ÿค— ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

  2. Yesterday I saw three school boys, friends, standing next to each other and all of them on their phones. And I thought to myself, can they nor have a normal chat anymore? Since I started my blog I have been caught up in the phone and social media spiral as well as I got twitter and instagram and I think we all must step back from time to time and just enjoy life, enjoy each others company and see what is around us. The world that we live in and not the fictional world.

    1. I observed similar this morning on my way to work… at least 10 people on the platform looking at their iPhones and/ or talking to someone. Iโ€™m guilty too! Trying to cut down now and remember the world as it was before all this social media. I love it but need to find and live in balance… ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜Œ

  3. Yes I can so relate to this!
Hereโ€™s some little things I started a few years ago:
I started with ensuring the โ€œdo not disturbโ€ setting is on my phone from 9 pm to 7 am-
At 9:30 pm (at the latest unless I have an weekday evening commitment), I start getting ready for bed and have my book ready- face washed -pjs on !
    It doesnโ€™t always work but itโ€™s a try –
I avoid watching TV a lot so read a couple of books a month now I think because of that!
I try to be a better listener during conversations and put the phone down or away

    1. Thank you… some great advice. More books and less screens is the way to go. I used to read a lot when I was younger. A great world as well. Thank you so much for sharing and for your comment ๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป.

  4. I’ve been trying to do calming things at the end of the day to wind down, rather than ending with a lot of activity and suddenly trying to sleep. seems to help –
