Mindfulness and trends- this week’s challenge

There are always different trends on what is healthy for you; do you remember the Wii games? I played a little and it was great after I’d had my daughter. Something to do at home! Then we’ve had the varieties of no- carbs diet: Atkins and South Beach. I have to admit that I’ve never been able to follow those- I can’t even recall that I’ve even tried. Me and no carbs- that’s just no laughing matter. I’m not sure I would have any friends left after- never mind family? I would just not be a nice person to be around! Then I recall the Apple gadgets; iPhones, iPads and all the Apps that come with that. I’ve had a variety of them from MapMyRun, Fitbit, MyFitnessPal, Strava, Nike and many more. I also did a stint with Tracy Anderson I remember being so impressed by Gwyneth Paltrow and her body transformation. I think GP was (is?!) also following some strict micro diet. I find that quite fascinating. Just don’t have enough “want” to do such a thing. Not at least right now. As I know you should never say never! But… I believe in balance too much. Then we have the famous dance moves such as Zumba. I tried it once and liked it but it was not for me! Then all of these gadgets- vibrating plates to everything that you can shop online!

I’ve been into running and Yoga for some time. I actually did a half marathon a couple of years ago and loved it! By no mean did I run fast. I just remember how proud I felt after- immensely so. There are so many things you can do from home these days. That’s why I truly love

Yoga with Adriene

I think she has a very inspiring story and really believes in what she does. All you need for this is some kind of mat and a gadget to watch the sessions from. Easy- as long as you remember to actually make the effort of getting on that mat and give your body and mind 20-30 minutes of you time! Something I do believe is here to stay is mindfulness. I need to remind myself about being in the present a lot more. It’s so easy to always wish for tomorrow. And that’s a bit crazy. Because who knows what tomorrow will bring?! This week’s challenge will be about focusing on the here and now. To enjoy the moment. Life is what’s happening to us right now- not tomorrow nor next week. Be more present at work, with family and with friends. Stop multitasking. Focus on the start to the end and accomplish. Achieve your goals.

Do this as you remember to breathe. Deep down from your stomach- one at a time. Enjoy every moment! I truly recommend.

Convinced it’s the small things in life that we need to focus on to ensure we live a happy life. Love sharing experiences and recommendations and starting to understand that positivity is very contagious!

  1. I can certainly identify with many of the ‘get healthy’ kicks and fads you’ve written about. It seems those of us who enjoy being ‘healthy’ are willing to try almost anything to make it happen.. Hahahhh
And yes, I agree with you about the carbs. I couldn’t do all the physical things I love to do without a helping of ‘good’ carbs; and even a few ‘treats’ every now and then… 🙂

    1. Yes that’s very true! And I realise more and more that it’s about showing up and making the effort that really counts. And carbs are just too nice as a treats once in a while! 🙏🏻😌
