Business Insider have ranked the 50 most livable cities in the world. I always find it interesting to read lists containing different things and comparing. It’s always important to remember that everything we read and write- is subjective. It doesn’t really matter if it states that it’s “objective”. Do you agree? Can a person truly be objective? Internet is such an amazing world! But the results when searching for facts always depend on many different factors; search engines, how they’re built, the search words you enter and so on. I think it’s important to remember that. So of course when you try and find different lists that rank nice cities to live in, they always look different. I do quite like this list though:
50 most livable cities in the world
The metrics in this list included crime rates, healthcare quality, infrastructure and levels of corruption. Top of the list is… wait!
The list starts with Los Angeles. A very cool city to visit! Quite beautiful with nice scenery and good shopping. The traffic can be quite horrendous though. 11 out of the 50 cities are in the US actually. San Francisco is another one that I like. 2 cities included are from the U.K. I’m surprised that London is low on the list. 4 cities are in Canada. I really like Canada and find the cities that I have visited very beautiful! 23 cities are in Europe (it is a big continent) and 12 in Asia (incl AZ/NZ). The city in this survey as number 1 is… ta da:
Vienna in Austria.
You can always debate why certain cities are included and not in these type of lists. If nothing else I love the pictures here and it makes me want to really visit some of them sometime soon!
I can’t believe NYC didn’t make the list. π

The photos are nice and make me want to go to all of these places. just like you said π I find these rankings a bit arbitrary. Living in the world’s happiest country has made me critical about such studies :)))

Yes I completely agree. I donβt think any list is going objective and you can find what you want on the internet. The information also depends on the criteria used and so on… but as you say- the photos are beautiful and it inspires to visit these places! I would love to visit Iceland one day… πππ»

To be honest, I was surprised to see Reykjavik i that list :)) Being so close to Iceland, I don’t miss it somehow π Isn’t it true that always the most distant places seem most attractive? I would love to explore those North American cities!

Yes I agree! And also your comment on the furthest places away from where you are seems the most appealing to visit… makes me think that I should make an effort of thoroughly exploring Copenhagen and Denmark πππ»

Sounds like a plan! No Iβm Swedish actually- then lived in various cities in Europe and spent time in the USA. Now here so I need/ should explore a lot more. Itβs very pretty here. πππ»

You sound like a Swedish nomad :)) Norwegians like to travel and study around the world – but then they prefer to come back to Norway. To work, start family, etc. I thought, this kind of conservatism is very Scandinavian. But you break the pattern :)) Is it typical for Swedes to come back to Sweden too?

I most certainly am! Iβve lived in 8 countries so far. Denmark is the closest to Sweden Iβve reached! I feel so incredibly privileged to be able to do this (lot of work involved) and I know it takes about 12 months to properly settle in, in a new country. At least from my experience! Iβve also worked in multinational organisations and lived in London, which is extremely multi- cultural. Iβve loved every minute of it! Of course- good and bad things with everything- hence why I truly want to emphasis to focus on the good and the positive and a major reason I started my blog- and also to open up dialogues and to talk to people. Itβs amazing! Thank you for taking the time to read and for commenting! ππ»π

Phew, 8 countries, that sounds quite a number :)) For many people even a couple of them would be enough π You can say are privileged, but you must be also strong to be able to keep that positive focus. I once moved for a while, from country to country, and then I got very tired to start my relationships anew, and then to quit them after a year. So I wanted to settle down in one place for some years. But after 11 years in Oslo – I am ready to move. Though scared too :))
I love chatting in the comments, so thank you for the conversation! Always great to meet interesting people like you π

Yes it is a lot. And my positive attitude is actually just getting stronger! Sometimes going through hard times can be a good thing. And never giving up and also feel like your part of something. I really love this blogging activity and the new βroadsβ it opens up! Delighted to make your acquaintance. And only you will know if itβs the right thing… and/ or the right time to move ππ»π
